MorganAlley Website Resilience services

Website Resilience

Some small business websites are remarkably profitable and earn their owners a tidy sum. Perhaps it’s an e-commerce site, or an online magazine which does a nice little business off of advertising. The last thing you want is for the site to be down, or overloaded, for any length of time. It could be anything from an overloaded network from a Denial-of-service attack on the next server over to the whole datacentre going offline. These things happen (1, 2, 3) but that’s no reason to expect your website to be unavailable.

We can set up a failover server or service that takes over the service when a certain threshold is reached. This can be anything from a holding page saying “Be right back!” to a resilient database-driven e-commerce site.

As every website has its own requirements we can’t publish a standard schedule of rates for a service like this. Suffice it to say, though, we have priced it to be affordable and competitive for the small business owner. If this sounds of interest to you please “contact us”:contact and we will be happy to discuss your requirements with you.

There are lots of services (some of them are even free!) which will monitor your website for you. The thing is they don't really tell you much that's actually useful.

Our service can help you answer several important questions:

Is my website up? How can I know right away if my site has been hacked? Does it take potential customers way too long to get to my site? read more about this….

  • Is your website invisible? Can (or really, do) people actually see it? Now this may sound ridiculous (especially if you've just had a quick look at your site just to be sure!) but according to research by Startups.co.uk reported on The Register at least half of small businesses with an online presence are missing out on sales due to a lack of search engine marketing skill.

  • Website Monitoring

  • I got a bounced e-mail notice from a good friend who had tried to alert me to something on one of our sites (and not that our access control was out of control!). The e-mail he sent to us had bounced and he was worried something was up. I sent a couple of test e-mails which worked fine and let him know that everything seemed to be in order and to just re-send.
